MELBOURNE, Fla -- Undercover Federal Agents with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) busted up a large drug distribution ring on Tuesday night.
Approximately 8pm, Federal Agents were working a joint task force with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office in busting up drug traffickers operating throughout Brevard County and identified 34-year-old Jahrod Cherry as a "pound quantity distributor" of Methamphetamines and Fentanyl. On May 7, Jahrod Cherry communicated with an undercover operative and specifically talked about a drug transaction.
The transaction consisted of 2 pounds of meth and 1 ounce of Fentanyl in exchange for 3,600$ cash. The dealer and the undercover operative agreed to meet at the Cheveron Gas Station on Babcock Street in Melbourne, the court papers say.
At approximately 8:15pm they conducted their pre-arraigned deal. Mr. Cherry was them met with armed agents who were employed with the DEA and was taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of 2 pounds of methamphetamine and 1 ounce of field-tested fentanyl.
Court records show that the drug trafficker is also on probation for possession of heroin with intent to sell. His bond was set at 750,000$ and was appointed the public defender.
