Sheriff K-9 Dog Bits Fleeing Shoplifting Suspect Who Had Warrants for Arrest

Merritt Island, Fla--- July 13, 2024 --  

According to a Facebook Video posted by Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, David Mosses Bradley is charged with Shoplifting, Resisting Arrest, and Violation of Probation stemming an incident at the Wal Mart in Merritt Island.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff, an off-duty deputy recognized Bradley as a troublemaker and had warrants out for his arrest.

"Bradley was observed running into the woods", says Sheriff Wayne Ivey.  "The deputies called in our aviation unit and the K-9 to help assist in apprehending him." 

According to the Sheriff, Mr. Bradley, listed as "Homeless" on police reports, refused lawful orders to comply and surrender.  The suspect stole several items from Wal Mart including Bic lighters, socks and ear buds.  K-9 Deputy Habart and his dog bit the suspect in the back before putting handcuffs on the feeling shoplifter.  

"This Isn't California" 

The Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said in a video statement released on Facebook that he does not apologize for putting bad people in jail.  "Our community loves us", the Sheriff told the public.  "This isn't California." ~ Brevard County Sheriff

Court Information: 

The alleged thief was taken to jail and is still sitting in there at last check. David Mosses Bradley has a $1,000 bond and awaits trial.  He was appointed the public defender's office to represent him. His next court date is an arraignment August 5, 2024, at 1:30pm in front of Judge Thomas James Brown at the Moore Justice Center in Viera.
