MELBOURNE, Fl ---- The Blake Moia Show - Aug 02, 2024
There is a large police presence in the area of Hibiscus Blvd and Normand Drive in Melbourne.
Initial reports say there was a male having a "mental health crisis" that was called in by a third party.
Police quickly responded and set up a perimeter. Loud P.A. commands were heard coming from a police loud speaker. A crisis negotiation team arrived to assist.
After initiating contact with the person via text messages and phone calls, a crisis negotiator was able to negotiate the man safely out of the house. He ordered the rest of the officers via radio transmission that they were there to look for life threatening injuries.
At approximately 6:13pm, the unidentified man was able to come out of the residence and was able to show that he had no "life threatening injuries".
Police supervisors ordered officers to clear the scene and to clear the radio after it was determined the scene was safe, no crimes were committed and no injuries. It is unclear what exactly lead this third-party caller to call police in the first place.
The supervisors ordered the squad briefing for the day was canceled and they will conduct it tomorrow in the CID room during start of shift. We suspect there may be an officer or two in trouble.
