Academy Sports called 911 to report a male who was stealing knives fled from their staff and was last seen running north toward the AMC Theater. A Patrol Unit checking the area saw a subject with a matching description on Norfolk Parkway and the subject then fled on foot westbound into the wooded area.
West Melbourne Police Department (WMPD) and Brevard County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) set up a perimeter and a K9 track was initiated. The K9 located the subject hiding in the apartment complex construction area.
The suspect has 29 prior arrests in Brevard County and was recently released from prison. The defendant identified as 39-year-old Terrell McCall was charged with retail theft and violation of probation.
After an ongoing investigation into potential drug sales by a person who was staying at a local hotel, the Special Investigative Unit (SIU) obtained a search warrant for one of the rooms.
Police say, the Strategic Response Team executed the search warrant without incident and two persons, including the suspect, were located inside. Fentanyl, various pills, and additional drug paraphernalia were recovered during the search. A male and a female were arrested and are being charged with criminal offenses.
