Wanted Fugitive in Custody

As it turns out, someone who was wanted by authorities was rudely awaken by the SWAT authorities and put into handcuffs in his pajamas.

The shirtless suspect (pictured) was identified as 28-year-old DaQwain Taysean Dankins.  Authorities determined that Dankins, had an outstanding bench warrant out for his arrest for Failure to Appear (FTA) for an Early Resolution regarding narcotics possession.

Authorities say a number of illegal contraband were seized from the residence.

  • 1.1 grams of Fentanyl
  • KelTec .22 caliber rifle
  • Charter Arms .38 special revolver
  • Ruger Model 10/22 (.22 caliber rifle)

In Jail

Court records show that Dankins bond was revoked and forfeited as he did not show up to court on a previous case of possession of MDMA. Authorities found him hiding out at a reported drug house (pictured) on 516 Tucker Street in South Melbourne.

Dankins is still in jail tonight on a $4,500 bond. Dankins has a long history of violence, including arrests for battery on a law enforcement officer, dating violence, drug possession and trespassing.

Authorities say the investigation into this case is ongoing, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to call the agency's tip line: MPD-TIPS (321-608-8477) or Crime line: 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
