4 Students from Volusia and Brevard Counties face Felony Adult Charges

VOLUSIA COUNTY, FL --

The concerning issue of school threats is being addressed, particularly highlighting the arrests of four students linked to serious threats made against their schools.

Authorities say students involved were identified as Salvador Orta-Geiringer, 11, Kamden Taylor, 13, Gavinn Carter, 11, and Liahm Reidy, 15.

Authorities responded quickly after receiving reports of written threats that suggested intentions to inflict harm on their classmates. The incidents have ignited a broader discussion on social media regarding student safety in educational settings and the roles that both students and parents play in preventing such alarming behaviors.

Ultimately, the arrests of Salvador, Kamden, Gavinn, and Liahm will result in them being held in secured detention for 21 days.

Kamden Taylor

According to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood says 13-year-old Kamden Taylor made threats while playing on his Play Station game.

"After reviewing the evidence and interviewing Taylor, VSO Detectives charged Taylor with making written threats to kill."

A tip led to his arrest, authorities say.

Salvador Orta-Gieringer

According to Volusia County Authorities 11-year-old Salvardor Orta-Gieringer sent written threats to his classmates for the sole purpose of terrorizing his classmates.

"He sent threatening text messages to classmates with the sole purpose of having them fear for their safety", Volusia County Mike Chitwood said.

Salvador was seen on video being made to wear leg irons and restrain handcuffs. He was then escorted and locked inside a cell to await processing and transport.

Gavinn Carter

According to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood says 11-year-old Gavinn Carter sent a hoax tip to Crime-Line.

"The hoax tip came into Fortify Florida tip line saying he was going to shoot up Silver Sands Middle School", Mike Chitwood says.

He was also paraded, and perp walked in shackles and handcuffs.  He was then placed into a holding cage, this video shows.

Gavinn Carter's parents were also arrested for resisting and obstructing authorities when they showed up to investigate.

Liahm Reidy

According to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, the FBI alerted the Sheriff about 15-year-old Liahm Reidy.

The FBI says Liahm Reidy made a comment on a Tik Tok video saying, “I’m shootin this school up”. The school was reportedly Merritt Island Highschool in Brevard County.

Agents from the General Crimes Task Force, School District Security quickly worked to identify and located the student.

"When interviewing Reidy, he told Agents he was talking to a friend when the friend allegedly encouraged him to write the comment regarding shooting up the school", Sheriff Wayne Ivey said.

Reidy was handcuffed, arrested, and transported to the Brevard County Juvenile Detention Center in Sharpes.

Reactions from the Sheriffs of Volusia and Brevard Counties

According to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, before he started perp walking the "little cherubs" with shackles on in public, there has been a significant decline in school threats that have been made.

The sheriff says there has been a 79% decline of threats made towards the schools.

"2 weeks ago, there were 188 threats made", Mike Chitwood says.

The last week of September only saw 1 arrest in Volusia County. The week before that saw 8 arrests, according to records.

"Our message seems to be getting through", Mike Chitwood says. "Parents, thank you for driving home the point to your kids. Please keep after it!"

To the county south in Brevard County, the Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey says he isn't going to tolerate school threats either.

"Parents, talk to your kids and make sure they understand that we have had enough of this crap taking place!! I encourage you to sit down with them and explain the magnitude of harm they cause, not only to others, but themselves as well, when making comments and threats like this!!"

Sheriff Wayne Ivey went on to say, "Folks, I cannot make this clear enough, and this is something I hope all parents talk with their children about tonight, it does not matter who you are or how old you are, if you threaten our schools in any way, we are going to take you to jail!! We don’t care if you don’t have access to any firearms or were just taking a dare from friends as this is not a joke and saying something of that nature is not going to fly in Brevard County."

The Sheriff would like to thank the agents and everyone who investigated this tip and took the kid off the streets.

Before the juvenile delinquent's release from secured custody, they would need to undergo psychological evaluation and counseling, authorities say.
