ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla -- Authorities say On July 11, 2024, shortly before 5:00 p.m., officers with the Port St. Lucie Police Department went to a scene in the 3100 block of SW Watson Cour, to serve 35-year-old Joshua Valdes, a warrant for possession of multiple pornographic images of young children. Valdes was exchanging the child pornography with someone in Indianapolis. When Valdes refused to exit his home, a SWAT team activated a crisis negotiation team and drone units as they tried to negotiate with him for nearly 3 hours. Port St. Lucie police knew Valdez did not have a weapon and Valdez's mother and sister left the home and helped police try to get Valdez to surrender. Around 8:30 p.m., SWAT officers decided to enter the home with a police dog to apprehend Valdes. The SWAT team located him in the front bedroom, hiding under a mattress. He was taken into custody without incident. Valdes is now charged with 17 counts of child pornography. His bond was set at more than $300,000. Video Courtesy of The Police Activity Network.
