Authorities captured 20-year-old Bryshawn Bursey, from Melbourne, after a wild and dangerous pursuit along N.B. I 95.
Florida Highway Patrol Troopers say as they were responding to an accident with road blockage on Tropical Trail, troopers observed a Gray Dodge Hellcat SRT driving erratically eastbound along State Road 520.
At this point, the trooper attempted to overtake the vehicle.
Troopers say the fleeing Hellcat made a left and turn onto Cox Road, made several turns and blew through multiple intersections.
The chase eventually went down the wrong side of Range Road, by driving Northbound in the Southbound lanes of traffic. The Trooper lost sight of the gray car for a brief time while the pursuit went around the "S" type curve on Rosentine Street. Once the Trooper regained visual of the reckless vehicle, it was driving once again on the wrong side of the road, narrowly avoiding other innocent traffic.
The dangerous chase went through several more neighborhood streets and thoroughfares, twists and turns, and eventually ended up on Vanderbilt Street. The Trooper called off the chase because he had a flat tired, the Trooper reported.
The suspect drove to a dead end and turned back around and headed towards the Trooper's direction. The patrol vehicle was still in motion, but limping from the flat tire, struck the suspect's vehicle's rear quarter panel and spun out of control and came to a rest on the sidewalk.
The Trooper was able to take 20-year-old Bryshawn Bursey into custody and question the passenger.
Upon search for illegal contraband, authorities located a loaded Mini Draco in the vehicle. When questioned, the passenger claims that he was "sleeping" the entire time and didn't know there was a gun in the car.
The passenger claimed the pair was supposed to go to an Air B n B out of county.
The Driver, Mr. Bursey, declined to talk to investigators. He was taken to the hospital to be cleared before taken to jail on a no bond status. His next court date is an arraignment July 25 at 8:00am in front of Judge Aktin.
The car was towed from the scene and the Mino Draco, as well as 21 rounds of ammunition and an additional magazine was confiscated for evidence.
