This week, authorities raided 5 businesses in Brevard County and 2 other businesses in the city of Port Orange for operating illegal slot machines, and unregistered gaming devices.

Undercover Agents with the Florida Gaming Control Commission conducted reviews on several gas stations, businesses and other places as part of their fraud and embezzlement initiative and discovered 3 locations in Melbourne, and a location in Merritt Island and Palm Bay with violations regarding illegal gambling equipment.

Unregistered slot machines are illegal in Florida, according to authorities as they do not provide transparency.

The Brevard Sheriff's Office assisted the state agents in confiscating almost 1 million dollars in cash, over 500 gaming machines and a 2022 Chevy Silverado which was used to transport the cash were all confiscated.

Authorities say they expect to make criminal arrests pending further investigation.

Citizens are urged to contact the Florida Gaming Control Commission with reports of illegal slot machines at www.FLGaming.gov/File-a-Report, or call 850-880-3433.

The locations that were shut down in Melbourne were at:

Palm Bay:

  • 190 Malabar Rd.

Merritt Island:

  • 950 N. Courtney Parkway
