An assistant principal at Cambridge Elementary faced a judge Friday after police said he confessed to exchanging lewd texts and photos with a former student.
Devane Nicholi Lonard Clarke, aged 25, was arrested Thursday.
Police say a tip about lewd images on the suspects Apple watch initiated the investigation.
The investigation began after an informant brought the suspect's Apple watch into the Palm Bay Police Department. The watch contained lewd and naked images of a young girl. The images showed what appeared to be a young girl bent over with her pants down and buttocks showing as well as several illicit text messages.
Palm Bay Police Department dispatched a Cocoa Police officer to Cambridge Elementary School in Cocoa where he serves as the school's assistant principal. Police eventually interviewed Mr. Clarke at Cocoa Police Headquarters where he confessed to having an illegal relationship with the student.
According to the police report, Mr. Clarke had been tutoring the student while performing sex acts on the young girl.
Mr. Clarke is also known to volunteer and coach Little League Ball for Palm Bay Little League.
While being interviewed by police detectives, Mr. Clarke turned over his cell phone and Apple watch and authorities discovered over 11,000 deleted text messages. Detectives confronted Mr. Clarke about the discovered illicit images and text messages where he confessed having an inappropriate relationship with the student.
He was charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Computer Solicitation of a Minor and Engaging in Sex Acts on a Minor by an Authority Figure. Brevard County Judge Baker set bond at $31,000. His next court date is July 23, 2024.
