Brevard County Emergency Management officials have announced that Brevard County Schools on Wednesday and Thursday will be closed due to the impending impact of Hurricane Milton. The decision was made to ensure the safety of students and staff as the storm approached the area.
Hurricane Milton has been gaining strength and is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the coast. The Brevard County School District prioritized the well-being of its community by taking proactive measures in response to the forecasted conditions.

Water, toilet paper, and other "necessities" are sold out. There have been reports of people panic buying and hoarding supplies. Some store placed quantity limits on high-demand items.
Gas is low - with stations all across Melbourne and the surrounding areas running out earlier today. The Farm Store on Sarno and Croton in the Ixora Park Neighborhood, which also serves as a drive through convivence store, sold more than 10,000 gallons of fuel today. Our source tells us that they only have less than 1,500 gallons of Unleaded left.
The Chevron Station a mile down the road also has a few mor gallons of gasoline left. They also have propane.
Cumberland Farms across the street on Sarno has gas, although first responders' vehicles will be prioritized.
Murphy Gas has some fuel left as of this writing.

In anticipation of the potential impacts from Tropical Storm Milton, expected to strengthen to Hurricane Milton, Brevard County will offer free sandbags for residents beginning 8 a.m. Monday.
Sand is being provided by Brevard County Public Works and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will have supervised inmate chain gang work crews filling and loading sandbags for the residents. Residents do not need to bring sandbags, bags are provided and filled by on-site personnel.
There is a limit of 10 sandbags per vehicle. Please be aware, lines may be closed earlier than 6 p.m. to ensure a timely closure.
