What to Know About Florida's Amendment 3: The Legalization of Recreational Marijuana

November 5th, 2024 - TheBlakeMoiaShow.com

It's election day! That means the American people will choose a new President of the United States, senators, state senators, congressmen, mayors, sheriffs and city council members.

Also in that list, are a few proposed amendment measures.  In this article, we explore Amendment 3: The legalization of marijuana. The amendment allows adults 21 years or older to possess, purchase, or use marijuana products and marijuana accessories for non-medical personal consumption by smoking, ingestion, or otherwise; allows Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers, and other state licensed entities, to acquire, cultivate, process, manufacture, sell, and distribute such products and accessories. The new law, if approved by voters, applies to Florida law and does not change, or immunize violations of, federal law. The new law will also establish possession limits for personal use.

Tens of millions of dollars have been spent for and against the amendment.  Blake Moia voted no for approval. However, he is still for medical marijuana - just not recreationally.

Why we're ultimately against the legalization of recreational marijuana:

Insurance will skyrocket as if it's already skyrocketing enough. From a businessman's stance, the legalization of marijuana will cause several additional liabilities that the public will come across. There will be stoned drivers on our roadways causing accidents and causing other mayhem on our streets. We also suspect there will be further gang related violence if the measure is approved by Florida voters.

You're not allowed to grow it. Not even a single plant. Cultivation of marijuana plants constitutes a felony. Most people who are voting no on the amendment are voting no for this reason.  According to experts, smoking "home-grown" marijuana provides for the best high as it's the freshest and not handled by unknown entities and potential bad actors who may lace the flower buds with other drugs such as deadly fentanyl and other potentially hazardous toxins.

You have to buy the marijuana from "them" - the big retail weed stores such as True Leaf, Theara-Leaf and Sweet-Leaf stores.  These medical marijuana dispensaries are funding the advertising supporting for amendment 3.  Again, you aren't allowed to simply grow it - like tomatoes or peppers.

The proposed measure would have to exceed 60% approval rate in order for it to be written into law.
