Palm Bay police said several witnesses saw Sunrise Elementary School Teacher, Beatriz Rapisarda, a special needs teacher, push the student and restrain the child by grabbing her wrists. Rapisarda then dragged the student about 30 feet through the hallway toward the bathroom. Witnesses told investigators that Rapisarda used a Styrofoam matt and used it to "wrap up" the child like a "burrito" as a “form of punishment,” according to a police report.
Witnesses say they seen Rapisarda use her knee and force it onto the child's back, pinning her to he ground with all her weight while the child screamed.
Investigators with the Palm Bay Police department said the teacher would then put the special needs child into a bathroom stall and lock her in the stall for ten minutes.

Beatriz "(Bee Rap)" Rapisarda is seen in open first appearance court wearing handcuffs and shackles, after beating up a special needs child.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Rapisarda has over 15 years of teaching experience and has "strong background in behavior management and strategies. "
The parents of the child who was abused is seeking to press full charges on the teacher.
The Sunrise Elementary School principal alerted students’ families about the arrest, sending a message Friday morning.
Brevard Public Schools released a statement, saying it is aware of the teacher’s arrest and Rapisarda has been placed on administrative leave while law enforcement conducts an investigation.
“The safety and security of our students is our No. 1 priority,” BPS said in a statement. “We are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation.”
“Sunrise Families, we are aware of an incident which led to the arrest of a teacher at Sunrise Elementary. The teacher in question has been placed on administrative leave while law enforcement conducts their investigation.
“Our commitment to student safety remains unwavering. We will continue to take all necessary measures to protect our students and uphold the trust you have placed in us.
“Thank you for your support and understanding.”
Palm Bay Police Spokesperson told reporters:
“The investigation revealed that Rapisarda physically pushed the student and restrained the child by grabbing their wrists,” said Lt. Kilmer.
“These actions were witnessed by several individuals. After a thorough review of sworn statements and evidence, sufficient probable cause was established for her arrest.”
“The Palm Bay Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety of individuals within our community, especially our youth,” authorities said. “We will continue to work closely with the school and our partners at the Department of Children and Families to ensure incidents such as this one are not repeated.”
