West Melbourne police arrested a Nicaragua National over the weekend after calls came in regarding a driver slumped over the wheel and facing the wrong side of the road.
The incident happened at an exit gate of a gated HOA subdivision in West Melbourne. Witnesses say the driver, identified as 23-year-old Alexander Albarez Mayorga, who has an address listed in Palm Bay, was slumped over the steering wheel of a 4-door gray Mitsubishi at the gate of Tamango Drive.
Officers note in the police report that the suspect's zipper was open on his shorts, had slurred speech and his breath smelled like alcohol.
When ask how much he had to drink, he replied "3 beers."
Officers called in a Spanish-speaking officers and had the suspect perform field sobriety tests.
Police say he failed to maintain his balance during the 1 legged stand and took the incorrect number of steps during the straight line walk.
The suspect was placed under arrested for DUI and admitted that he did not have a valid drivers license. He performed a breathalyzer at the West Melbourne police station where it measured .143
The suspect bonded out of jail prior to seeing the first appearance bond judge.
