BREAKING: SMALL PLANE MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING AT FLEA MARKET IN MELBOURNE

December 26, 2024 -- 10:30pm  By: TheBlakeMoiaShow.com -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Emergency crews are on scene tonight after a pilot made an emergency landing at the Renniger's Flea Market just north of I-95 in Melbourne.

The reports came in at 6:57pm when the pilot of a 1979 Beech twin engine aircraft, which is owned and operated by the FIT flight training program reported some sort of engine trouble and had to make an emergency landing. Sources say the aircraft came from South Carolina and was trying to land at the Melbourne International Airport.

Upon approach the aircraft crashed into some high-tension voltage transmission cables that run parallel to the interstate and then subsequently landed into the parking lot of the Flea Market.

Roads Shut Down Due to Power Lines Down

Local authorities have the on ramp to I-95 southbound from Eau Gallie closed and blocked off at this hour due to a high-voltage wire that got taken down due to the emergency landing.

Power crews and fire officials are on scene to put the power line back up on the pole.

The Sheriff's Office tells us tonight that it will be quite some time for the road to be opened back up and to find other alternate routes if you have to travel south.

1,000 People Without Power

FP&L reported tonight that approximately 1,000 people went without power at some point due to the plane crashing into the powerlines. The Federal Aviation Administration says there were 2 people on board the plane at the time of the crash and only minor injuries were reported.  The FAA and the NTSB are now investigating.
