THE BREVARD COUNTY JAIL, FL --
Palm Bay Police arrested 34-year-old Conrad Wayne Gibson for retail theft after loss prevention officers say he stole pork chop ribs from Wal-Mart.
Loss prevention officers representing Wal-Mart Stores say the suspect was spotted on video surveillance at the self-checkout lane scanning the less expensive pork ribs and replacing them with more expensive pork ribs and concealing them into plastic shopping bags.
When confronted by store security, Gibson left the shopping cart behind and took off on foot and evading capture.
Later on, loss prevention agents for Wal-Mart posted the suspect's picture in a group chat where another Wal-Mart manager recognized him from another store.
Loss prevention personnel were able to use facial recognition features and locate the debit card used to partially pay for the illegally scanned merchandise.
Facial recognition positively identified the suspect as 34-year-old Conrad Wayne Gibson Jr.
Officers were able to locate Gibson and place him into custody for retail theft. Bond was set at $1,000.
