COCOA, FL  --

Cocoa Police made a significant arrest on New Years Eve.  A police report says there was a suspicious SUV vehicle parked outside with its engine running and windows rolled down at a high crime and drug trafficking area of the city.

When marked patrol cars got behind the vehicle, the SUV took off and ran a stop sign.

Police gave chase in a wild pursuit of the armed drug dealer, where several stop signs were run through in a wanton disregard for public safety.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Henry Richardson, reached speeds of 65 miles per hour down residential streets in an attempt to get away from police investigation.

The fleeing SUV crashed into a parked black truck on School Street, made a U-turn and took off again before crashing into a chain-link fence a short distance away, authorities say.

After the suspect crashed, officers noticed Richardson carrying an "AR Style Pistol" and attempted to flee on foot while tossing the gun and a fanny pack containing drugs to the ground.

Officers were able to apprehend the suspect and take him into custody after he was apprehended on the property of a Church.

A large amount of cash within the fanny pack was also found.

Authorities sized: 7 clear baggies with 125 grams of Marijuana, 1820$ in cash, a Black Good Times Armory 15 Rifle, and ammunition.

Richardson is sitting at the Brevard County Jail on a $33,000 bond under an entire host of serious felony charges, including trafficking drugs, tampering with evidence, use of a weapon during a felony, fleeing law enforcement and hit-n-run and driving while license suspended. The public defender is appointed to represent Richardson.

Richardson was also issued  5 criminal and 4 civil traffic citations.

Brevard County Judge Michelle Baker dismissed the weapons charge and 1 of the hit-n-run charges.

A second person was also arrested in the incident.
