In the very early, hours of Sunday, March 09 2025, sirens would suddenly start sounding. Loud engines, flashing red and blue lights and annoying, loud sirens of all types would be racing eastbound on Sarno Road in Melbourne.

West Melbourne police attempted to pull over a white Honda Odessey van. However, the van didn't stop.

Reportedly, Melbourne Police Units assisted West Melbourne and Sheriff Office units with the deployment of spike strips ss speeds reportedly reached speeds of over 85mph down Sarno Road.

A West Melbourne Police Unit suddenly became disabled during the pursuit as the chase reached Nieman Ave and Babcock Street. As the chase went southbound down Babcock Street, the suspect vehicle, described as a white Honda Odessey van with North Carolina plates, managed to swerve past oncoming spike strips deployments and eventually evade authorities as the chase continued into Palm Bay.

Another police unit was also reportedly damaged in the dangerous chase.

Authorities called in the Brevard County Sheriff's office Aviation (STAR) Unit to assist in the pursuit, however police lost sight of the suspect south of Malabar Road.

It remains unclear why the West Melbourne Police wanted to pull the vehicle over and the fleeing suspect still remains at large.

At around 6pm, a Melbourne Police Car collided with a civilian vehicle along Sarno Road and Cronin Road. A female police officer sustained injuries and was transported to a local area hospital. Sarno Road was shut down for hours as officers directed traffic around the crash scene.

Sarno was eventually opened back up around 9:15pm.

We asked the Mayor of Melbourne, Paul Alfrey about the costs associated with these dangerous high-speed chases.

Do the taxpayers have to foot the bill in regard to repairing the damaged police cars? Is there insurance?

The answer is, "Depends." "Who was at fault?" - the Mayor responds.  In this case, the taxpayers will have to fork over the costs of repairs to the vehicles in the nighttime high-speed chase. We're told by sources that a West Melbourne unit ran over a spike strip that was laid down by a Melbourne Unit in the daring chase, which ultimately led to no arrests.

"If the police end up catching the suspect who led them on a destructive chase, the government can request restitution and other damages to pay for costs occurred during the event", The Blake Moia Show Legal Analysts says.

As for the crash which happened this afternoon? The taxpayer, yes, you, will have to pay up that bill as well.
